Every panel gets a dry extraction to lift loose dust and grit. Steaming before this would only smear the dust into the fibres.
Steam is worked through each panel from the header down while it hangs at full length, lifting the greasy film and soil a vacuum leaves behind.
A final pass takes out cooking smells and mustiness. Steam adds very little moisture, so the panels dry hanging and you can draw them that evening.
